Forever is a Really Long Time!

"The Lord is my shepherd ... and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." - Psalm 23:1a, 6b
I want to link this to a dreary little Psalm, 88. That psalm has nothing positive to say and ends on the sad note of rejection and darkness.

Why link these psalms? Because there are times where there, simply, is nothing positive to say; and pretending there is doesn't help.

So, again, why link these psalms? Because, regardless of what we have or don't have in this life, how we feel or are treated, those in Christ's flock have a good home and a great future. "Forever" is a really long time.
Romans 8:18
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Taking better care of ourselves

"... and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." - Psalm 23:6b
At the end of his life of fast living and hard drinking Micky Mantle quoted a line from a Jazz musician Eubie Blake, "If I'd known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself."

Though beginning at different points in time, we are all going to live somewhere for eternity,1 either with God or elsewhere, that's going to be a very long time.

We really ought take better care of ourselves.
